RO-NO Ranch
RO-NO Ranch, established in 1994, is located on 56 acres of farm land in Waymart, PA, just north
of the beautiful Pocono Mountain Region. The ranch has two barns; a brand new 8-stall with some private
turnout paddocks, and a stone-built 4 stall barn. In addition, we have a large outdoor riding area, a
round pen, and gaiting track. Group and private turnout are available as well as pasture turnout.
The property itself has both field and forest as well as hills and streams. There are miles and miles of dirt
roads that are great for trail riding. The neighboring farm, Macadoo Paso Finos, has many miles of trails
that can be utilized as well.
Nola Haupert-Keill
Nola's equine career spans over 20 years. She began in her early teens working at a local riding stable where
she also began riding. Over the years, she followed her interest in horses to a farm in Missouri, then out to
California. While in California, Nola attended Rawhide Vocational college and took classes in equine and large
animal husbandry, barn management, and reining.
In the early 1990's, Nola was offered a position training horses and mules in the Pocono's of Pennsylvania.
It was during this time that Nola met an Amish horse dentist looking for an apprentice. She spent the next
eight months learning the trade. Her adventurous days not behind her yet, in early 1992, Nola spent
several months in North Dakota doing horse dentistry then trailered an American Quarter Horse 4,000 miles to
Alaska. She spent six months working and exploring Alaska. Finally, she flew back to Pennsylvania, met and
married her husband, Rob, and opened her own tack store, The Tack Shack. She continued to train horses, give
riding lessons, and perform horse dentistry.
In the mid-1990's, the training and dentistry side of her business grew. She began to travel to different parts
of the country doing teeth for various clients and traveled locally to train horses. In early 2004, Nola
expanded her boarding facility and now accepts and trains horses at her ranch.
Nola is active in the Pennsylvania Equine Council, the Southern Wayne Trail Riders Association, the Paso Fino
Horse Association, Mason-Dixon Paso Fino Horse Association, and Northeast Paso Fino Horse Association.
Rachel Fitzmorris
Rachel Fitzmorris, a native of Cornwall, England, is a full-time instructor and trainer at RO-NO Ranch. She
is accomplished in her profession receiving the prestigious British Horse Society Assistant Instructor (BHSAI)
certification in 2001. BHSAI is recognized around the world for its rigorous series of riding and teaching
exams in England. The qualification ensures the recipient can:
- Teach all levels and disciplines of riding;
- Ride well enough to improve a client's horse including jumping courses at 3'3"; and
- Perform veterinary tasks, manage a barn and pass a road safety and CPR exam.
Rachel's pursuit of BHSAI certification included one year of study and teacher
training at Foxes Riding Center in Cheshire, England. While there she taught Riding for the Disabled which was
both challenging and rewarding for her. Rachel then spent another year teaching and riding at Cedar Crest Farm
(a BHS Equestrian Center) in Duchess County, New York. Rachel's philosophy is "to treat each rider and horse
as individuals...to assess their goals and help them achieve them." She has a friendly, fun, and professional
approach to horses and teaching.
Rachel has owned, ridden, and competed horses all her life. Currently, she is training her own three-year old
Quarter Horse filly and she rides and competes in dressage and hunter/jumpers on Nola's talented Appaloosa
gelding, Rusty.
